We developed the visual identity of the REWORKS audiovisual festival (now in its 6th year) around a key visualization of its name: a wheel as a symbol of recurring movement, reposition and replacement (re-) is integrated with a cogwheel that symbolizes work, make, and tools both as an object and as a concept.
A circular cogwheel is presented alone or in a large + small couple as a centerpiece in a number of informative and promotional applications including the festival’s website and various web-banners for other sites, videos, posters, flyers, programs, t-shirts, printed banners etc. and was used as the main link between them.
Any additional information, including the titles of the events, the time and durations of the happenings, the credits etc. were added in clear, sans serif typography in vibrant colors that countered the black and white composition of the circular cogwheel and its background. Motion was added to those elements for the video interpretations of the compositions, with each element moving according to its dynamic and geometrical properties, against grayscale ambient moving backgrounds, that were also used as projections to many of the concerts presented in the festival. The rhythm of the motion followed the beat of each video’s soundscape.
